+ How many times can I do the program?

Once you've done YoWo, you can repeat the program as many times as you like. There is no need to re audition.

+ How much does the program cost?

The program costs $899 for the semester. Financial assistance and payment plans are available.

+ Where do the rehearsals take place?

Rehearsals take place every Sunday during school term at Collarts, Brunswick St Campus in Fitzroy.

+ Do I have to own my own instrument?

Students provide their own instrument for the duration of the program, however amps, keyboards, and a drum kit will be provided. Drummers need to bring sticks, bassists and guitarists need to bring leads.

+ I play an instrument that isn't usually used in pop/contemporary music, can I apply?

Yes! You can play any instrument and participate in YoWo.

+ I'm only 12, can I still join YoWo if I'm not a teenager?

YoWo is for any high-school aged young woman or gender-diverse person. If you are currently in Year 6, you may audition for to be in the band program the following year.

+ What happens in the audition?

Please play some music for us! We'd like you to perform 2 songs/pieces of your own choice. These can be of any style; just play something you like! You are welcome to play with a recording or backing track if you like. We will ask you about your musical history and what music you enjoy listening to. We will also run through some basic musical excercies including:

• repeating clapped or sung phrases
• reading chords and simple melodies

It's ok if you don't read sheet music - we encourage you to apply!

+ I play more than one instrument. What should I play in the interview?

We would like you to prepare two pieces on the instrument you would most like to play in the program, and prepare an additional piece on your second-favourite instrument.

+ I don't read sheet music. Can I still do YoWo?

Yes! YoWo is for you! We encourage learning music in lots of different ways - sometimes with chord charts, sometimes by ear, and any way that suits the individual participants in the program.
